Communications Assistant

Position Summary

The Communications Assistant provides graphic design, content production, digital, and administrative support to the Director of Communication & Connection, helping ensure BSMC communications are timely, accurate, visually engaging, consistent, and well-organized. This role supports the execution of churchwide communications across multiple channels, manages communication requests and content updates, and provides administrative support for connection, hospitality, and membership processes.

 

Position Responsibilities
  • DIGITAL & WEBSITE COMMUNICATIONS
    • Coordinate weekly website updates and event pages.
    • Upload content, graphics, links, registrations, and other digital resources.
    • Help keep online & digital information current and accurate.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA & CONTENT PRODUCTION
    • Create, write, and schedule routine weekly social media content and posts.
    • Create engaging digital and print graphics that support ministry communications, events, and churchwide initiatives while maintaining BSMC brand standards.
    • Format and upload approved content across communication platforms.
  • COMMUNICATION REQUESTS & PRODUCTION
    • Receive, organize, and track communication requests.
    • Complete routine production assignments and monitor deadlines.
    • Organize and catalog photos, graphics, templates, and communication files as needed.
    • Support outsourced creative work and vendor portals as directed.
  • CONNECTION & HOSPITALITY SUPPORT
    • Provide administrative support for New Member Class, Connect Cards, hospitality materials, and volunteer scheduling.
    • Assist with routine communication and administrative needs of the department as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience creating digital and print-ready graphic assets for events, promotions, and
    organizational communications.
  • Strong graphic design ability with an eye for branding, layout, typography, and visual consistency.
  • Highly experienced in managing and utilizing social media platforms and graphic design software,
    including Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong production, administrative, and digital communication skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft 365, and Constant Contact.
  • Experience with Realm preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading.
  • Able to manage recurring weekly tasks and deadlines reliably.
  • Organized, self-motivated, dependable, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable learning new digital tools and vendor platforms.
  • Good judgment in knowing when to ask questions or escalate concerns.
  • Collaborative and flexible in a fast-moving church environment.
  • Candidates should be prepared to provide examples of graphic design and communications work.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Communications Assistant reports directly to the Director of Communication & Connection and supports assigned communication and connection priorities.
