Retirement Reception for Rev. Janice Holliday
Join us in Drake Hall following services on June 14 to celebrate Rev. Janice Holliday as she embarks on retirement. Stop by for light refreshments and take a moment to express your gratitude for her years of faithful service to our Buncombe Street community. We hope to see you there!
The Bridge Summer Small Groups
Hey college friends! The Bridge ministry has two Bible studies launching this summer just for you. Groups will start in June, meet Monday nights at 6:30 PM through July, with guys and girls gathering at separate locations. Sunshine for the Soul
Buncombe Street is proud to be a part of Sunshine for the Soul — a new monthly gathering of reflection, prayer, and spiritual connection for anyone touched by cancer and the broader community.
Held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 11:00 AM at the Cancer Survivors Park on Cleveland Street, each session is led by a different faith leader. Our turn is June 18 – we’d love for you to join us or invite a friend! Learn more about the program here.
July 5 Worship Schedule
Join us for one service on July 5! In celebration of the holiday weekend, we will hold one combined worship service on Sunday, July 5, at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary. We hope you’ll join us as we worship together as one church family!
Please note that our B-Street Kids and B-Street Students Sunday School will not meet that morning. Nursery will be available during the 10:00 AM hour and throughout the worship service for your little ones.
B-Street Food Pantry
Our food pantry needs your help this summer! As demand continues to grow, we are running low on some essential items and would love your support. We are especially in need of:
- Oatmeal
- Pop-Tarts
- Instant meals (mac & cheese, ramen, Chef Boyardee, etc.)
These shelf-stable staples make a real difference for families in our community. If you’re able to donate, please drop off items at the church office. Every contribution helps us keep our shelves stocked for those who need it most. Thank you!
Cookout & Cornhole Tournament
Hey B-Street Men – come celebrate Father’s Day weekend with great fellowship, food, and friendly competition! Men’s Ministry will be serving up burgers and dogs with all the fixin’s and hosting a cornhole tournament. Grab a partner or just come enjoy the food — it’s free!
For food purposes, we are asking you to register beforehand – click here to let us know you’re coming. This event will be held outdoors in the parking lot closest to the church office (College Street lot), with Drake Hall as our rain backup.
Confirmation 2026-2027
Calling all rising 6th graders! It’s time for our 2027 Confirmation Class registration, and we are so excited for your student to walk through this process at Buncombe Street Methodist Church. It is our privilege as a student ministry to be part of this important time in their lives. Register your 6th grader for the 2026-2027 Confirmation year by June 19.
SUMMER CAMPS
Basketball Camp
We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming Basketball Camp for kids ages 8–13, hosted right here in our gym in partnership with Dribble for Destiny! Join us the week of June 29–July 1 from 9:00–12:00 PM for three mornings packed with skill-building and fun. Campers will develop their game through dribbling and ball handling, passing and shooting, skill development drills, daily competitions, and full court play. Registration is $109 per camper and includes a t-shirt, basketball, wristband, and devotion materials. Spots are limited — don’t miss this incredible opportunity for your young athlete to grow their game this summer!

Vacation Bible School 2026
Dates: June 15-18 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Ages: Rising 4k-Rising 6th graders
Light up your summer at Illumination Station™ and shine a light on Jesus! Kids will explore all the ways light brightens, illuminates, reflects, and reveals while discovering that Jesus is the light who brings hope to a dark world. We've moved VBS to the MORNING this summer and SPOTS ARE LIMITED!

THE BEST CAMP EVER: Camp Moseley 2026
Dates: July 26 - 31
Location: Asbury Hills
Ages: Rising 3rd-6th graders
This week-long camp is described by former campers as “the best camp ever!” Camp Moseley is an overnight summer camp for rising 3rd - 6th graders designed to build a community of faith and foster discipleship in our B-Street Kids. Activities include worship, Bible study, rock climbing, archery, swimming, water slides, games, camp songs, canoeing and more. NEW THIS YEAR: We are offering DAY CAMP! If your child is not comfortable staying overnight, we have a Day Camp option this year.
