Easter at Buncombe Street
This season, we invite you to journey with us through Lent and Holy Week as we explore one of the most profound questions in Scripture: Who is Jesus? Through the seven “I Am” statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John, we are discovering that Jesus is more than what He can do for us — He is the answer to our soul’s deepest hunger, the light that reveals, restores, and reassures. Each week brings us closer to the most important moment in history: the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Whether you are joining us for the first time or have worshipped with us for years, we can’t wait to celebrate Easter with you! Scroll to see how you can get involved in this special season.

Join us on Sundays during Lent as we explore the seven “I Am” statements of Jesus Christ found in the Gospel of John, culminating on Easter Sunday. This sermon series invites us to move beyond what Jesus can do for us and discover who Jesus truly is. Through these powerful declarations, we will encounter Jesus as the answer to our soul’s deepest hunger and the light that reveals, restores, and reassures. We can’t wait to worship with you!
Celebrate Holy Week with us!
Journey with us through Holy Week as we remember, reflect, and worship together.

Palm Sunday
Kick off Holy Week with us as we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem! This Sunday, our children’s choir will lead us in Traditional worship through song as a reminder of the joy and praise that filled the streets on that first Palm Sunday. Come ready to wave, sing, and worship as we begin our journey toward Easter together.

Maundy Thursday
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus gathered with His disciples for one final meal and demonstrated the full extent of His love through an act of humble service. Join us in Sisk Hall as we remember that sacred night through the observance of Communion and the optional practice of foot washing. This intimate service invites us to slow down, reflect, and experience the depth of Christ’s love in a personal and meaningful way. As you make plans with your family, please note that we will not have nursery or childcare available.

Good Friday
Join us for a Tenebrae service as we walk solemnly through the final hours of Christ’s journey to the cross. This ancient and moving worship experience uses the gradual extinguishing of candles to mark the growing darkness of that first Good Friday. Our sanctuary will be filled with the hauntingly beautiful sounds of a string quartet, and the service will conclude with the stripping of the altar — a powerful visual reminder of the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. Come prepared for a deeply meaningful evening that will make Easter morning even more profound. As you make plans with your family, please note that we will not have nursery or childcare available.

Holy Saturday
Join us in our intimate Memorial Chapel for a contemplative Holy Saturday service as we pause and worship together. In the stillness between the cross and the empty tomb, this service will be a sacred space to reflect on the weight of this in-between day before the joy of resurrection morning arrives. As you make plans with your family, please note that we will not have nursery or childcare available.

Easter Sunday
He is risen — and that changes everything. After weeks of journeying through Lent and discovering who Jesus truly is, we arrive at the greatest declaration of all — the empty tomb. Come celebrate with us on Easter Sunday as we worship together with the joy and wonder this day deserves.
