Principle #1 – God Owns It All

All we have belongs to God. Our blessings are gifts from God, our generous Creator.
Principles of Stewardship

You may think that your possessions, in particular money and time, belong to you, but God says clearly in His word that it really belongs to Him. Psalm 24:1 proclaims, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

These possessions are not yours, in the sense that you own these things; they are simply yours in the sense and you’re responsible for managing these gifts. If God owns everything, then you’re responsible to Him for how you spend money, manage possessions and the time He has allocated to you. God owns it all, and He gives to you out of His own abundance. You, who are blessed, should remember where your resources truly come from, and always seek ways to honor God with these gifts.

Learning to make the most of our possessions, especially the money and time God has blessed us with, doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and discipline to go from where you may be today to where God wants you to be.

“Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us”
1 Chronicles 29:14
