Love Him By Loving Others

Have you ever pushed yourself to accept a challenge by asking yourself, “Why Not?” Matthew 22:36-39 is the first and “greatest commandment” and one of our most sacred duties. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your strength,” followed by Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We cannot love someone we don’t know, so knowing God should be our first priority. And how do we know and love God? We learn God’s voice, His words. We talk to Him by praying. We listen to Him, and we honor Him in all things. We serve God by serving others. It is through this spiritual discipline – being of service to others, that our relationship with Him grows and matures to the glory of God! We love Him by loving others.

Stewardship is not about the church budget. It’s about our relationship with God and his earthly kingdom. True giving comes from a loving relationship with God. As you read this article, Why Not? Consider answering God’s call – to be a more faithful steward of your time by giving generously of your time and talent. Visit buncombestreetumc.org > Get Involved > Serve.
