Finishing Strong in 2019

The month of December is a turning point for each of us as we look forward to the prospects of the upcoming new year. December is also the month when many of us reflect upon the things that we need to do before the turn of the calendar.

December is also a turning point for each of us as Christians and as members of BSUMC. We celebrate God’s greatest gift to us in the birth of Jesus.  The Advent of the Christ child is the focus of our thoughts. Church attendance is highest in the month of December. We dedicate our Advent offering to the missions effort at BSUMC in celebration of His birth. We also celebrate the blessings that we have enjoyed throughout the year. December is a very important month to us in a lot of ways.

December is also an important month for the leadership of the church. December is the month with the highest financial giving. Since December is the last month of our financial year, we anxiously await the amount of the December giving each year. The 2019 results provide the leadership with insights that help form the foundation for 2020 planning. Our pledges of time, talent and treasure for 2020 are also important in formulating plans for BSUMC for 2020 and beyond.  The goal of the BSUMC leadership in this planning process is simple: to best use your gifts to make disciples of Christ and to be good stewards of the resources that God has provided through you to His Church.

I encourage you, that as you abide in this wonderful Christmas season, to be generous in your support of God’s work here at BSUMC. A strong finish in 2019 will have a positive impact on our church in 2020 and beyond!

My wishes for a blessed Christmas season,

Michael Helms
Stewardship Chairman
