For a Free Sitter:
- The Alzheimer’s Association is pleased to help family caregivers who are caring for a family member with dementia attend this 2024 Teepa Snow Dementia Workshop by applying for an agency sitter to stay with their loved one while they attend the Workshop. This “Sitter Service” is free, paid for by the Alzheimer’s Association, and is separate from the Respite Voucher program offered by the Area Agency on Aging.
- To receive this assistance the Family Caregiver will need to complete and submit a Sitter Service application with the Alzheimer’s Association, SC Chapter. Applications can be requested by contacting Debbie Schneider at (843) 492-0472, by emailing Debbie at deschneider@alz.org or clicking application. Note that a Dementia Diagnosis Statement from your loved one’s physician or neurologist must accompany this application, or page 3 of this application must be completed and signed by the physician or neurologist prior to a Sitter Voucher being issued. You can submit this application to Debbie at deschneider@alz.org Once the application is received and approved, the family caregiver will receive an award letter that can be used to arrange for a sitter with an approved agency. Applications must be received by Monday, August 26th to allow adequate time. You can also find this application under the “Resources” tab of the registration.
Registration opens July 30 and will close on September 9. Please read the registration instructions in their entirety. Sign up to receive email updates on this event below.
