Holy Week: April 13-20

Join us for Holy Week! Holy Week is the most significant period in our liturgical calendar, commemorating the final week of Jesus Christ’s life on Earth, his crucifixion, and resurrection.

Join us as we begin Holy Week with a joyful Palm Sunday celebration! Together, we will remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, waving palm branches and praising the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Our Children’s Choir will lead us in worship, making this a special and meaningful time for all. Come and prepare your heart for the journey to the cross and the hope of the resurrection.

The Trial of Christ examines the legal system in the first century, with a focus on the confluence of events and factors that led to charges against our Lord. This presentation will use a legal perspective to look at God’s redemptive plan for salvation, and how forgiveness of sin was (and still is!) available through the blood Christ shed on the cross. The legacy of this presentation is continued by Buncombe Street member Tommy Thomason’s son Rocky and presented by Chief Justice John Kittredge. All are welcome to attend on April 13 during the Sunday School hour in the Chapel.

We will have a special Maundy Thursday worship service as we remember the night Jesus shared His final meal with His disciples. Through scripture, prayer, and music, we will reflect on Christ’s command to love and serve one another. A time of voluntary foot washing will be offered, following Jesus’ example of humility and grace. Let us prepare our hearts for Good Friday and the hope of Easter in Sisk Hall at 6:00 PM.

Worship with us in a solemn Tenebrae service on Good Friday as we reflect on the suffering and sacrifice of Christ. Through scripture, music, and the gradual extinguishing of light, we will journey through the darkness of the cross, remembering the depth of God’s love. Come and experience this powerful time of worship at 3:00 PM in the Traditional Sanctuary.

Celebrate the joy of the resurrection with us at our Easter Sunrise Service in the park! As the sun rises, we will gather in the heart of our community to worship, pray, and rejoice in the hope of the risen Christ. This outdoor service is a beautiful way to experience the wonder of Easter morning together. All are welcome! Spread the word and join us at 7:00 AM in Falls Park Amphitheater, right by the entrance to the Falls Park Bridge.

Easter Sunday is April 20 and we will have three worship services in our building: 8:45 AM & 11:00 AM in the Traditional Sanctuary, and 11:00 AM in Sisk Hall. Let us rejoice in the resurrection of our Savior and be renewed in joy, faith, hope and love as we come together to praise His name!
