2020 Missions Advent Offering
United Ministries has been one of Buncombe Street’s closest mission partners over the years. This year marks their 50th anniversary, and while they have much to celebrate, they have recently experienced a significant loss of funding. Please help us continue their important work in our community by donating to our special Mission’s Advent Offering. Thank you so much for your support.

2020 has been a year none of us could have anticipated. It has been one of great challenge, hardship, and crisis for so many people—and the effects of COVID-19 continue. 2020 is also United Ministries’ 50th anniversary—our Golden Year—and one that has turned out very different than we had imagined! And while we grieve the state of our world and specifically the increased challenges here in our Greenville community, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our work continues as we support individuals and families on the transformative journey to self-sufficiency.
While we have witnessed incredible community support during this time of crisis, United Ministries has recently lost a significant channel of funding for the operational costs of our programs. These five program areas focus on a range of support that meet both immediate needs with compassion by providing food, shelter, and other life essentials while also actively working to remove barriers so that individuals and families can meet their own needs through education, employment, financial counseling, and mental health counseling. In order for these programs to continue operating at the level of care and long-term commitment that United Ministries seeks to provide, along with skilled expertise and investment from our staff, we are working to raise support for this deficit in order to continue keeping these programs strong in the days ahead.
We are so very grateful for the incredible, faithful support of the community of faith at BSUMC, and look forward to a continued partnership as we work together to ensure that everyone in Greenville has the opportunity to thrive.
